Mastermind Creations R-04 Leo Dux - Pictorial Review

Busy month indeed. With my baby, works, TransMY exhibitions, hard to find time for reviews. Aside from this, hopefully will also be able to finish the reviews for TFC Phlogeus, UT Soundmixer, KFC Citizen Stack, and also TFC Gumball.

But first thing first, let us proceed with MMC R-04 Leo Dux (Not-Razorclaw). With this release, Feral Rex finally took form!

For brief back story of the character, please refer below:

In Package

Leo Dux comes in the same packaging as both Fortis and Bovis before with his artwork on the front. So far out of the 3, I like Leo Dux artwork best.

Back View

The back shows all the modes of Leo Dux along with few gimmicks for Robot and Alt Mode.

Tech Spec
Like most releases, Leo Dux comes with a tech spec and also instruction sheet/comic book. I won't be spoiling any of the plot but 2 things worth mentioning:-

A concept art gallery of Seraphicus Prominion (Not-Nova Prime), said to be MMC's next release (maybe next-next-next).

Also, black-painted Hexatron (Not-Sixshot) which was revealed recently to be R-01D Terminus Hexatron Shadow Emissary version.

Alt Mode

Seriously, MMC nailed Razor Claw looks! Leo Dux is basically what G1 Razorclaw would look like IF it is released now (and IF Hasbro did not decided to cut cost on the newer design).

Side View

Leo Dux is overall nice to look at. Only there are a few things that I wish were done differently. First is to add bulk on his underside. However, this isn't noticeable especially from the front.

Second is his tail, which was made out of Feral Rex's sword hilt but looking at it a few more times, I kind of dig the design.

Maybe my main complaint would be the hind legs. Compared to Nemean which uses the legs of the robot to form the alt mode's hind legs, Leo Dux's hind legs are merely side attachments which are too small and kind of spoil his overall fierce looks.

In alt mode, Leo Dux's articulations are pretty 'moderate'. The front legs are very poseable due to the number of joints on them; while the hind legs are pretty limited. The lion head is static with the jaw able to be opened.

Comparison shots

Having Leo Dux with 2 other Feralcons is a nice sight. I really like how these three fit nicely together, design, paint scheme and size wise, an advantage that TFC doesn't have.

Next, with TFC Nemean, another Not-Razorclaw iteration.

Size wise, Leo Dux is significantly smaller than Nemean. However, both figures manage to capture Razorclaw's aesthetic well, in their respective design.

Side View

Back View
On most of the alt mode design, I leave it for the fans to decide. But personally, the looks on Nemean's back portion is better compared to Leo Dux.

Robot Mode

Right in the G1! MMC again did well in capturing the toy design of G1 Razorclaw while retaining their original concept. Transformation wise, Leo Dux is quite simple with most of the sequences can be easily guessed.

Back View

Leo Dux is kibble free but a bit too plain on the back

Side View

Compared to TFC Nemean, Leo Dux have a better design of the lion head which looks great on both robot and alt mode. However, the shoulders are a bit high and the robot head isn't visible aside from the front.

I was fairly surprised to find that the shoulder canons (guns? rifles?) aren't black colored plastic but metallic black finishing.

G1 accurate head sculpt with metallic-red painted eyes/visor

Leo Dux has decent posebilities with strong joints supporting them. The head is on a ball joint, the shoulders are on a ratcheting joints and hinges, double-jointed elbows and wrists swivel. Leo Dux also have a waist swivel, ratcheting universal joint and swivel on the thighs, 2 different-rotation ratchet joints on the knee (one is a bit higher) and swivel joints on the feet.

The Shoulder Canons

Leo Dux comes with Feral Rex's crotch plate which can either be attached on his back or pegged onto his hand to form a shield.

Even better, Leo Dux comes with 2 cleaver-like weapons (that reminds me a lot of Diablo 1's The Butcher). Material wise, they felt a bit sturdier than Bovis and Fortis's weapons but that might just be becauce of the size.

MMC gave him the right weapons!

Group Shots

Honestly, there's nothing much I can say about this aside from totally awesome! Size wise, Leo Dux is just a bit taller than Bovis and Fortis, enough to differentiate him with the rest of the team but not big enough to make him look out of place.

Next, comparison with TFC counterpart.

Leo Dux paint scheme is almost the same as Nemean (following G1 Razorclaw) in most aspect. However, he is almost a head shorter than Nemean. And I prefer the bulkiness of Nemean especially on the shoulders.

Combine Mode

Before we start, all the daggers/knife/cleaver of the first 3 can now be combined, forming an incomplete sword of Feral Rex

Moving on to the combiner mode

Transformation to this mode is quite straightforward. Probably the hardest part is taking out the Feral Rex's head from his body cavity, need to be extra careful with the antenna as they are quite thin

Comparison with TFC Ares main body

Despite being smaller in individual mode, Leo Dux looks somewhat bulkier in combined mode compared to Nemean.

This is a hard pick. The combiner head of Feral Rex homaged his G1 counterpart alot while the head of TFC Ares is what a Neo-G1 Predaking head should look like, personally.

The time a combiner collectors waited for. When the combiner take form and can stand proud!

Back View

Feral Rex manage to capture the aesthetic of G1 Predaking toy from head to toe, giving him a very awesome look. That, paired with the quality of the plastic makes Feral Rex one of the best combiner I had ever played with. However, one thing that disappoints me is the knee and thigh joints aren't strong enough to perfectly hold the weigh of Bovis and Fortis. However Feral Rex won't do split like TFC Uranos did.

THAT'S A LONG SWORD!
One thing that fans might wonder, how tall is he? Well, sadly, Feral Rex, in normal configuration is just as tall as TFC Uranos is.

However, the legs can be extended further to make him taller but without the rest of the limb, it's hard to determine can the extended legs hold the weight.

The result? Feral Rex is half-a-head taller than TFC Uranos.

I was never a fan of FP and MT-sized combiner so MMC Feral Rex is actually the first combiner outside of TFC that I really enjoyed playing. And he would definately be my pick if TFC didn't release Ares (or waited a year after to release)

*Anxious to see how will Feral Rex and Ares look side-by-side once completed*

Unique Toys A01 Soundmixer - Pictorial Review

This review is sponsored by X2OToys

Less than a month ago, I watched a youtube clip by TheFineBros, Kids React to Walkmans (Portable Cassette Players) which made me feel old...really old..

Based on the clip, I kind of understand why Hasbro still haven't (maybe wouldn't) produce this iconic character (not in the version that fans want at least) in the CHURGs line.

Pic Credit : TFWiki
DJ in da house. Fans of G1 will never forget Blaster, the most happening bot out there. He is loud. He is energetic. He is closest to the earth cultures than any of his comrades. In a long rivalry with Decepticon Communications Officer, Soundwave, Blaster was joined by a cassette army to help him settling the scores with Soundwave and his minion.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Unlike most important G1 characters, Blaster never really have an appropriate toy aside from the G1 version (and Reissues, etc) while his arch enemy, Soundwave received several updates with the most recent a Masterpiece treatment (both Hasbro and Takara version).

With the volume of 3rd Party companies nowadays, it surprised me that no one ever release Blaster until this year, by Unique Toys (and next, Mega Steel).

In Package

Unique Toys caught my attention with the packaging of Soundmixer (Not-Blaster) that carries a retro feeling resembling the early day of Marvel UK Comic Books.

Back View
I like the fact that Unique Toys doesn't use the same design template for all of their releases. However, packaging quality wise, Soundmixer is still not as good as Maniaking.

Out of box
Aside from the figure, Soundmixer comes with an instruction sheet and a tech spec, much like most releases nowadays.

Instruction Sheet

Tech Spec

Alt Mode

The alt mode that Geewunners has been waiting for so long. A [Not] Blaster transforming into a Boombox is like a really rare dream comes true considering that Hasbro and Takara feel that the alt mode is obsolete and unappealing to kid nowadays.

Back View
Unique Toys more or less use G1 Blaster transformation sequence for Soundmixer which is a nice touch for his fans. However, I do wish that they do not only cater for the front side of the alt mode as the back side is an eyesore.

Another complaint would be the use of unpainted gray plastic. I'm not sure whether it's the same type used by HasTak nowadays but it surely looks like one. Despite that, I like the detailing of Soundmixer a lot.

The paint job on Soundmixer is pretty clean at least on mine. No smudges or anything.

A tape cassette can be stored inside of Soundmixer as shown below. However, the compartment is a bit too small to store any G1 cassettes or most 3rd party releases that I know of (as far as I remember).

Cleverly done, the cassette tape transform into Soundmixer gun (can be seen below in Robot Mode section)

Aside from that, Soundmixer comes with armor add on that includes chest and shoulder armors, something that resembles a night-vision goggle and also a gun that looks pretty much like a hailer. All of these can't be stored in Soundmixer alt mode.

Size Comparison with Bumblebee

Robot Mode

As Blaster as it gets. Personally I think Unique Toys decided to make their iteration as such is to capture the aesthetic of G1 Blaster.

Soundmixer has a really nice head sculpt with great detailing. There are few angles though where he seems to have a cat face. LOL

Side View
Soundmixer has a clean design and pretty much kibble free.

Back View
Unlike from the front, Soundmixer's back is a bit plain with almost no paint apps on his lower body.

Despite that, the detailing of his mold is still nicely done.

The cassette tape that form his blaster

Soundmixer with full armor mode brought a whole new look and improvement to his aesthetic. However, I still can't find any reference of such design in any media or publications.

All the accessories (except for the gun) used pressure clipping to be attached to Soundmixer. I wonder will they last long considering removing them is a must every time you need to transform him. And as good as the idea was, the execution is poorly done as the accessories are all black unpainted plastics.

Size Comparison with Bumblebee

It's worth mentioning that Soundmixer's articulation weren't hinder by the accessories which is a plus. Now lets proceed without them

Considered my way of stability test

One thing that I supposed Unique Toys could improve with Soundmixer is his articulations. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, it's just a bit limited. Soundmixer comes with ball jointed head, waist swivel, swivel and ratchet joints on his thighs, a swivel joints below it, ratchet joint on the knees and swivel on his feet.

The articulations for his shoulders however is pretty much disappointing. There are a swivel and a hinge on each of the shoulders but the way it is put, there's few limitation on the range of movement.

Also making his arms look quite silly

Looking the name (UT A01 Soundmixer), I wonder what'll come next? Will A02 be his arch enemy? Or will it be Soundmixer's minions?

For Soundmixer, there's only 2 complaints, the simplicity of his transformation and alt mode and the articulations of his shoulder. Other than that, he's golden!

TFC Phlogeus [Project Ares] - Pictorial Review

It seems that it's all about the Predacons lately. After Leo Dux of Feral Rex, here's a review of TFC Phlogeus (Not-Rampage) of TFC Ares.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

He wasn't named Rampage for nothing. Pure rage, blazing fury and destructive nature pretty much sums Rampage up. During the Generation 1 cartoon, the Predacons appeared in numerous occasions but more as a group rather than as individuals so it's kind of hard to tell Rampage's role in the cartoon series (at least as far as I remember).

Pic Credit : TFWiki

In Package

Continuing the theme of Project Ares, Phlogeus maintained a black-themed box with a picture of the figure, just like Nemean that was released before him (and maybe Conabus after him). It still wish they put an artwork of him just like with Hercules and Uranos.

Back View

Phlogeus comes with a tech spec and also an instruction sheet. I wonder, will 3rd party companies come up with anything new to include with their releases.

Alt Mode

Just like his G1 counterpart, Phlogeus comes in red and orange with a few black and grey parts.

The tiger mode is nicely done with proper proportion. One thing that always worries me with combiners is that whether or not any of the modes being sacrificed to make the others work. So far, alt mode is a win for me.

I like that Phlogeus use the same approach as Nemean (as opposed to MMC Leo Dux) where the hind legs aren't just an appendage but full-fledged limbs

The jaw can be opened and the head portion can be lifted due to the way the head is connected.

The alt mode has a pretty decent articulations especially on the the front leg while the hind legs are a little bit limited.

One thing TFC never left out - Bad**s light piping
Size Comparison

The one thing that TFC doesn't do right for Ares, in my opinion. The scale. Different from other combiners, Predaking is like Devastator with all the members roughly the same size. Even though G1 Razorclaw is a bit bigger than the rest, he's still not as big as a 'commander' type figure.

Design wise, I like how Phlogeus and Nemean fit together, despite my previous worries.

Side View
Now let's compare with the Feralcons

I can't be sure how big will MMC Tigris (Not-Rampage) will be but from the looks of it, Phlogeus is a bit smaller compared to the existing Feralcons.

Robot Mode

Before I proceed, would like to remind that for CHURGs, there are usually 2 type of designs. First is the G1 CHURGs where the design is based on either the G1 cartoon or the G1 toys. Few example like MMC Hexatron, MMC Feralcons and few others. Another is the Neo-G1 CHURGs where the design is inspired by the G1 iteration but with significant changes. Almost the entire CHURG lines follow the rule. Moving on

Presenting, Neo-G1 Not-Rampage, Phlogeus! There significant different between the design of G1 Rampage and Phlogeus but I like the end product. Maybe it's my preference, haha

Transformation quite simple and straight forward for Phlogeus but the legs are a bit troublesome, more or less following Nemean design. I wondered where does the design came from and my best guess would be based on IDW continuity

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Phlogeus head sculpt is better than Nemean but still a bit too simple in my opinion.

Back View
Phlogeus has a clean design on the back without much kibble

Phlogeus comes with a melee weapon (sorry, not sure the name but my best guess is an Ice Axe or maybe a Tomahawk) and a blaster.

The tail can be attached at the end of the melee weapon

I love Phlogeus articulations, I must say.

Phlogeus comes with a ball jointed head, double-jointed shoulders, double-jointed elbows, wrist swivels, waist swivel, ratcheting joints on the thighs and knees and also swivel on the front part of the feet.

Stability test is a must

Size comparison with TFC Nemean
Like I said, Phlogeus and Nemean should've been roughly the same size, just like the G1 version.

Combiner Mode

Phlogeus by default transform into Ares's right hand just like G1 Rampage. Transformation wise Phlogeus follow most TFC combiner with some additional features

Among the features is the combiner fist comes with 6 fingers instead of 5 (2 thumbs). There are few reasons I have in mind, first is to give a more Ares a more animalistic design and second maybe, from experience, people tend to buy another set of the hand just to have the combiner able to use to same figure as right and left hand without doing any changes.

Out of the three TFC combiners (excluding Prometheus as the hand haven't been released yet), Phlogeus has the best joint in arm mode as it neither depend on the individual bot's thigh (like Uranos) nor small ratchet joint (like Hercules)

I have doubt before but no more!

Just one complaint in combined mode, Nemean yellow hands kind of spoil the paint scheme of Ares. Despite following roughly G1 paint scheme, the hands should be able to be concealed better. However, depending on how Not-Divebomb wings will be attached, there might be something I can change on the configuration.

Just like MMC Feral Rex, TFC Ares can also have extended legs to give him a taller look

Here's the result of both combiners in extended mode (assuming Ares's legs are the same height as Uranos's)

Nothing much to say, I can't wait for both Predaking to be completed!

TFC Gumball [Project Prometheus] - Pictorial Review

$

0
TFC seems to be on a roll lately. They were on a break after Nemean was released and now, they have Phlogues and Gumball released closely (with Conabus and Not-Groove coming in soon).

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Streetwise is part of Protectobot team that made a fair number of appearance throughout the series, as either as individual, team or combined form. As the team name implies, Streetwise and the rest of the Protectobots (usually First Aid and Groove) spend a lot of their time in rescue missions, helping the human that are affected by Decepticon's evil plan.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

In Package

First and foremost, my best guess on the name would be in reference to the 'Gumball' light, beacon used as police siren before. Gumball comes in a grey/silver box with a police badge on the front next to the Gumball artwork. Not sure will all the design be used for next Prometheus members or just for Gumball.

Like I said about Phlogeus, I hate the picture of the toy in front of the box. Tada! Nice artwork

Side View
From the artwork, I feel like Gumball has some sort of Japanese element in his design

Back View

Gumball comes with an instruction sheet and a tech spec, combiner foot and also 2 guns with their attachment.

Instruction Sheet

Tech Spec
Alt Mode

Unlike G1 Streetwise, Gumball transform into a Mustang instead of Nissan 300ZX (or is it 240SX? Sorry, not really a fan of cars).

Transformation is standard for a car Transformers with the upper body forming the front portion of the car. However, transformation from robot to car is kind hard maybe due to the fact that TFC design all the parts to be closed fit (to increase sturdiness as Gumball forms Prometheus's left leg) and the instruction isn't helping. I can't really describe it but in short, transform the front part of Gumball halfway, proceed with his legs THEN continue to the front part again (instead of doing the front part all the the way).

TFC puts a decent amount of detailing on Gumball as can be seen above, from front to the back.

Fingerprint magnet!

Now for some size comparisons

I know that most people worries about how big will he be in alt mode. Well, he's slightly bigger than a Deluxe car which reminds me of pre-2011 Deluxes.

For me, the size is good enough to fit in my CHURG cars.

As a homage to G1 Streetwise, Gumball can attach his 2 guns at the back.

However, instead of being attached directly, there's a connector to hold the 2 guns and peg to the car. And I can't find a place to store the connector in robot mode and combiner mode..yet.

Robot Mode

Gumball robot mode looks like a crossover of G1 Streetwise design (body, legs) and also Generation Drift (shoulders, head).  The paint scheme pretty much following his G1 iteration (white, black and red).

Side View

Despite having a clean design, his backpack pegs in a bit of an awkward way, should've been done better. The design of the legs pretty much resembles Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe.

Extra detailing - Engine

The head design doesn't really follow Streetwise but great nonetheless with blue light piping (not in picture) resembling G1 Streetwise eyes color.

Equipped with 2 guns

The guns have exceptional detailing, different from previous TFC releases

Aesthetic wise, I really like Gumball. However, really disappointed with his shoulders articulations

Gumball comes with ball jointed head, double jointed shoulders (but quite limited), ratcheting elbows, waist swivel, universal joints on the thigh with swivel joint below them, hinge on the knees (more than 90o) and ball jointed feet.

Some people are worried with the feet sturdiness but I must say, they are stable enough.

Compared to Generations Deluxe cars, Gumball is a bit taller event compared to Drift, a tall Deluxe.

Now my favorite part, comparison between Gumball of Prometheus (Not-Defensor) with Air Burst of Warbotron (Not-Bruticus)

Combiner Mode

Prometheus Foot

I have a lot of complaints about Uranos's feet as I think it is poorly design that effect the overall aesthetic of the combiner. Let see what TFC do to fix that.

The side-to-side ratchet has been improved where the gap between gears is smaller compared to Uranos, allowing a more natural poses.

Next is the front-to-back ratchet which Uranos didn't have. However, unlike Uranos's, the foot is only one piece where it doesn't have a hinge for the toes.

Prometheus Left Leg

Gumball head can actually be pushed inside further to hide it

Side by side comparison with TFC Uranos

Gumball in combiner mode is a tiny bit shorter than TFC Uranos's. So, the height of Prometheus depends on how tall Not-Hot Spot in combiner mode.

My new boot

Despite the condition of my wallet, I like the speed of TFC releases now. With Prometheus and Ares on the way, paired with Warbotron Not-Bruticus and soon Not-Menasor, the 8 G1 original combiners will be completed in no time

Warbotron WB01A Air Burst - Pictorial Review

$

This figure isn't new, I missed the boat to do an early review of him and now even the 2nd figure of this set is about to be released.

Pic Credit : TFWiki
A member of a rather popular combiner, Bruticus, Blast Off is one of those bot that prefer to be alone than with company, your average devil-may-care Transformers. Suiting his alt mode, Blast Off prefer to spend his time orbiting far above the earth, scouting through the void and looking for target.

Many might remember the G1 episode, Starscream's Brigade where Blast Off and his team, reduced to personality components during their imprisonment, were liberated by Starscream and installed into abandoned World War II military vehicles (Blast Off in particular changed the B-17 bomber into a space shuttle).

In Package

Before we start, just a little background story. Warbotron is basically a new company (was in Facebook as Botron War before) that surprises the fans with a prototype of the Not-Combaticons. 90% of the fans had a seizure while the remaining 10% don't have internet connection.

Next on their to-do list is WB02 Not-Menasor.

The design and quality of the box is impressive! The front of the outer box have black and white artwork of both Air Burst and Not-Bruticus.

Back View

On the back is a portion of the artwork that can be found in the comic book. Though I'm not sure it's part of a bigger artwork this is just it. Another thing I would like to add is the outer box has a glossy surface, kind of hard to take picture without having your reflection on it.

The inner box has an even better quality, roughly the same as MMC's Feralcons. The design is quite like Fansproject Causality in a way but with richer colors.

Back View
The back of the box is even harder to take picture of, reflecting the light I use in the photo shoot.

Box size comparison with TFC Gumball

Despite the size of the box, Air Burst doesn't really have a lot of accessories, not even the combiner fist. Aside from the figure, he comes with a tech spec and a comic book/instruction manual.

Tech Spec

Comic Book/Instruction Manual

The illustration style of the comic books differs from all Transformers/3rd Pary Figures comic books I had ever seen.

Alt Mode

I've got to say, the quality surprises me. Considering that Air Burst is their first release, their offering is hard to say NO to. The transformation between mode is quite straight forward.

Air Burst captures the aesthetic of G1 Blast Off while having a modern design, quite a nice touch.

The detailing are well done with top-notch paint apps. However, most of the parts are colored plastic so it's a given. On ground, the guns are recommended to be attached elsewhere, not under the wings.

Clear glass on the cockpit

Totally beautiful

Air Burst scaled nicely with TFC Phantom which works for me.

Despite being a bit shorter, Air Burst have more mass and weight compared to Phantom (and the rest of TFC Uranos members)

One problem that I had and would like to remind you guys to be careful is the landing gears. They are hold by some sort of C-Clips which easily stress out. One of mine already loose and the landing gear tend to fall off.

Aerial Combat
Robot Mode

Air Burst robot mode came out nicely, capturing the G1 aesthetic of Blast Off. The detailing are awesome, admire how much work being put on the design.

The head sculpt is as G1 as it can be.

Side View

Back View

This might be a small issue but the nosecone kind of just hang there without being able to peg anywhere.

The arm blasters can be store behind the legs for storage

Air Burst have a pretty decent articulations. He comes with a ball jointed head, swivel and hinge on the shoulders, hinge on the elbow, wrist swivels, waist swivel, universal and swivel joints on the thighs, ratcheting knees, ball joints and swivel on the feet.

However, the shoulder pads which are attached to ball joints kind of hinder his shoulders movement.

Despite that, Air Burst can do so many awesome poses!

Articulated fingers

Compared to TFC Phantom, Air Burst is almost half a head taller. Combiner team wise, Air Burst scaled better with MMC Feralcons than TFC combiner teams.

Personally for me, the release of Prometheus excites me more because of the release of Air Burst. Can't wait to have my Not-Bruticus fighting with Not-Defensor.

The bot that broke Gumball
Combiner Mode

The combine mode kind of the most disappointing of all three. The transformation is simple and kind of feel 'incomplete' with Air Burst hands just hang to the side.

Unlike TFC and MMC combiners, Air Burst have the male connector instead of the female connector. I might be wrong here but I think the same connector was used by Maketoys Giant.

The length of the hand is roughly the same as Phantom's

I know there's a lot of photoshopped size comparison made online but I think Not-Bruticus will not be too big compared to TFC Uranos.

There aren't many 3rd party companies that able to surprised me with their first offering like Warbotron did. Last I was this satisfied with a debut release was with Planet X Genesis. This might just be a speculation, aside from the quality, Air Burst kind of remind me of a TFC figure with the way it transform and the design. Not to mention that Warbotron releases (Not-Bruticus and Not-Menasor) compliment what TFC haven't done yet. We'll see whether WB03 will be either Superion, Devastator, Defensor or Predaking, OR the other 2 (Abominus or Computron).

Again, this is just my personal opinion

KFC E.A.V.I Metal Citizen Stack [1st Issue] - Pictorial Review

$

0
This review is way over due, am really sorry bout that. Most of you have already known that Takara is releasing MP-22, the iconic character, Ultra Magnus. But back when the news was just a rumor, Keith's Fantasy Club (KFC) announced that they are releasing an MP figure homaging G1 Ultra Magnus, dubbed Citizen Stack (based on the name of Ultra Magnus voice actor in 1986's movie, Robert Stack).

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Not an unfamiliar face. Since Ultra Magnus made his debut in 1986, he's been one of the recurrent characters in Transformers universe, From G1 US (Season 3-4), G1 Headmasters, Robots in Disguise, Animated, TF Prime and more. However, after G1, most of the time Ultra Magnus toys is just white Optimus Prime repaints.

In G1, Ultra Magnus has kind of an unconventional alt mode. While most Autobots have a domestic vehicle as their Alt Mode, Ultra Magnus transforms into a car carrier equipped with missiles, one on each side. Fitting his role considering how he regarded himself as nothing more than a soldier for the Autobots cause.

In Package

Before we proceed, it's worth mentioning that despite Takara's announcement on MP-22, KFC stick to their guns and proceed in releasing Citizen Stack despite knowing how much they are risking.

Citizen Stack comes in quite a big and long box with a large artwork of Citizen Stack on the front. The quality of the box is decent; however it is advisable to be careful with it.

Amazing artwork of Citizen Stack

At the back are few pictures of Citizen Stack in bot robot and alt mode, giving a glimpse on the product design. On the left is Citizen Stack character's bio.

Citizen Stack's Bio

As usual, Citizen Stack comes with a tech spec and a comic book/instruction sheet.

Tech Spec

Comic Book/Instruction Manual

Not going to reveal much about the story except that there are Sky Pirates in it and also, 2 characters that look like X-Transbot Krank and Stax.

Alt Mode

I was fairly surprised and excited with the sheer size of him, considering only MP-04 and MP-10 are at this size and both have a trailer that's not part of the robot themselves.

Taking him out of the package, I noticed that the plastic feels a bit 'hollow', especially the truck cab, not at all comparable to official Masterpiece figures. That's kind of disappointing, I have to say. I understand that this aren't official release and I had never imagined it'll feel like one but even though the overall feel of the plastic is better than their Not-Perceptor (Mugen Scope) figure, it's still not enough for a figure this size.

Now let's talk design. Yes, he is no doubt a homage to G1 Ultra Magnus. KFC did a good job in designing him, with all the detailing especially on the carrier and chrome rims. However, the detailings are what made him too different from official Masterpiece figures IMO. It might just be me but most Masterpiece figures have only moderate amount of detailing in alt mode, roughly not more than what are on their G1 toys. I might be wrong but from MP-22 prototype pictures, I think that it won't have Citizen Stack extra red detailing on the carrier. Again, I MIGHT BE WRONG.

Despite what I've mentioned above, I love the detailing. The red really highlight the details on the carrier. And, the paint apps are clean.

Lowering down the ramp will reveal Citizen Stack's fists which are visible from certain angle. And the connection of the hands that made up the upper ramp is kind of weak.

For those who doesn't know, the truck cab and the carrier can't be detached. However, the cab can still be turned a bit to the left and right.

The maximum angle

A sight that fans have been waiting to see for ages, since the release of MP-04. Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, in Masterpiece size, side by side in alt mode.

KFC did well in designing Citizen Stack's cab to be almost identical to MP-10 truck cab, with added front grill to make him slightly different.

Citizen Stack slightly shorter than Optimus Prime (MP-10)

The truck cab's back tires are a bit hidden, not even aligned with the front tires. Wish KFC did them differently.

With Masterpiece Prowl

Now let see how much space the carrier has.

On the lower level, only 1 Masterpiece can fit due to the Citizen Stack crotch and chest piece inside.

Lowering the ramp for upper level

Above, at most Citizen Stack can fit 2 Masterpiece cars but at an awkward position due to the design at the end of the upper lever. So, maybe just one Masterpiece car then.

Robot Mode

I've been loving Citizen Stack design since his first prototype picture was shown. And even after the release of MP-22 prototype pictures, I still favor Citizen Stack more.

Transformation to robot mode are quite simple but due to his size, it might take a bit longer (to properly transform him without anything banging the floor etc). There are few parts that worried me during transformation; which are the the truck cab connector and connector between his crotch and body. Both of these parts are quite thin and maybe prone to breaking if not handled carefully.

Side View

One of the things that I think better compared to MP-22 (based on initial prototype pictures) is that Citizen Stack is literally kibble free! The slander and clean looks is how I imagined Ultra Magnus should be rather than the bulkier MP-22.

Most of the complaints I saw is on Citizen Stack's face design. The face is too square for my taste and the large chin hinder his neck articulation a bit. Aside from that, Citizen Stack has really nice detailing.

Articulation wise, he's what I expected. The head is a ball joint, swivel and hinge on the shoulders, swivel and ratchet joint on the elbows, wrists swivel, waist swivel, universal joint on the thighs, ratchet joints on the knees and ball jointed feet.

The waist swivel is quite loose and Citizen Stack tend to turn swivel around easily. However, the ratchet joint on the knees are too tight and needed extra care when bending them.

Aside from those, Citizen Stack is a great figure to play with.

The only gimmick for Citizen Stack is that the chest can be opened revealing a compartment for the Matrix, based on 1986's movie.

Using MP-10's Matrix

This is the part that I'm not sure of. Ultra Magnus is expected to be bigger than Optimus Prime, that's a given. However, Citizen Stack towers Optimus Prime to a point that he's only at Citizen Stack waist/chest level.

Even the Matrix seems small in his hands with room only for one finger. However, scale is a tricky issue especially in Masterpiece line. So, it's up to individuals to decide.

I'm not a Masterpiece collector and never own any Masterpiece figure. What I can say is that Citizen Stack quality is a bit lower than it should be. Being a Masterpiece size figure, better quality is expected from him. If this was 3 years back, fans would drool all over him but with MP-22 coming, it's a different issue.

However, IF he was down-sized to CHURGs scale, I personally think he'd be a great Ultra Magnus, even better than FP City Commander.

Age Of Extinction Voyager Class Grimlock (Hasbro Version) - Pictorial Review

It seems that this few weeks, Transformers is all about Age of Extinction. The launching of the toys ended up to be a pretty big deal here in Malaysia, with few friends lined up at Toys Ur Us during their Midnight Madness early this month.

As usual, from the start, never intended to get any movie figures. No offense, it's because I only collect CHURG figures. Didn't thought my wife was the one ended up wanting to collect the Dinobots, haha. But this won't be a long review, just a short one.

So first of, AoE Voyager Grimlock!

In Package

The thing surprises me the most is how simple the packaging of AoE releases. And small!

However, the artwork is awesome! Grimlock is shown in silver color, roughly like what can be seen in the Trailer, as opposed to the toy colors.

Back View
At the back, there're Grimlock in both modes with, if I'm not mistaken, a rather short character's bio. However, I like the way they design the back of the box.

Character's Bio

Alt Mode

My wife was contemplating whether she should get Voyager or Leader Class Grimlock but having the opportunity to fiddle around with the Leader version, told her to opt for the Voyager one.

Grimlock is mostly light brown with hint of silver/grey and black. Alt mode wise, he has a better proportion compared to the Leader version which looks....off...

I can't really be sure but from what I can see, the overall figure is a huge improvement compared to DOTM era. The colors are rich and the design looks kind of great. Grimlock have 2 configurations for the tail part, one being the weapon being attached at the back;

Or having the tail from the legs. AoE Grimlock transformations is the same as Voyager FOC Grimlock in most aspects, notably the tail.

The underside of the body is a bit hollow but the T-Rex arms can be position to cover the area and add a bit of bulkiness.

Despite having a lot of gray parts on the head, the detailing is admirable with few silver color parts and the eyes are beautiful emarald color.

*there's a button that can close up his jaw located on the left side of his head which I forgot to take picture of, sorry

Robot Mode

Like I mentioned before, transformation wise it's pretty much similar to FOC Grimlock. However, quality wise, AoE Grimlock feels sturdier than the FOC version which is kind of an improvement to me.

Looking at him, I seriously hope that he transform into robot mode in the movie cause he looks wicked! Many people prefer the Leader Class version but I don't know, this looks great.

The weapon is kind of hollow but that maybe due to the way it is to be attached to the tail.

Damn the face looks great! Many people complaint about how this is not 'Grimlock' but maybe they miss the face sculpt, especially the teeth.

The back however is not something fans would prefer though. There's too many visible hollowness.

His posebility is quite moderate though.

Grimlock comes with swivel joint on the neck, hinge and swivel joints on the shoulders, hinge on the elbows, universal joints on the thighs and a hinge on the knees.

Sadly, due to the way he transform, Grimlock doesn't have a waist swivel. There's no ankle tilt but the joints are positioned somewhat higher. For the wrists swivel, the dino feet need to be unpegged to allow them to turn.

The way Grimlock holding the weapon is kind of weird though, wish they did something about that.

Like I said, WICKED!

Sorry as I don't have any other movie figures to compared Grimlock with. However, I'm fairly surprised though, after DOTM, AoE (specifically the Dinobots) seems like a step in the right direction. Kudos!

TFC Conabus [Project Ares] - Pictorial Review

TFC seems to be a a roll recently. They were fairly quite after the release of Nemean but starting with Phlogeus, it's been one after another. Conabus was released not one month after Phlogeus and from what I gathered, Atheo will be arriving at my doorstep in 2-3 weeks time.

For a bried description about Headstrong, please proceed to MMC R-05 Fortis Review

Back View

After doing a lot of reviews of TFC Figures, I can't keep on repeating myself on the box, haha. And like previous releases, Conabus comes with a poster, an instruction sheet and a tech spec.

Instruction Sheet and Poster

Tech Spech

Alt Mode

When I saw Conabus pictures on the internet, I thought to myself, "Damn he's small!". However that proved to be wrong in hand. Conabus transformation from robot mode to alt mode is fairly simple, roughly following Phlogeus and Nemean's transformation although with some improvements.

I'm not sure why but personally I think the yellow paintjob is kind of lacking on him compared with G1 Headstrong paint scheme. However, I do find his size and proportion great.

Just like Phlogeus and Nemean, Conabus's legs from the alt mode hind legs. However, the tail is an undetachable part as opposed to the one on his predecessors.

I have mixed feeling about the head sculpt though. The clear plastics for the eyes and the horns is a nice touch but the detailing around the face is kind of plain.

Ares's foot can be rearrange and attach on top of Conabus following the G1 toy gimmick.

Size comparison

Like I said, despite looking a bit small, Conabus is actually of the same size as MMC Fortis in alt mode. I think the only reason it doesn't look like so is because of the way Fortis alt mode's body is.

The way Fortis (and Bovis) was design made it look bulkier than Conabus.

Man I can't wait to get Atheon and Not-Divebomb. I like TFC Ares's team members group shot so far.

I'm not sure how much people care about the articulations of figures that transform into beasts but since we're already on it...

Conabus has a decent (not great) range of movement form the front legs and a bit less on the hind legs.

The head can be swivel a bit but without any upward motion, just few degrees downward.

The jaw can be opened

Robot Mode

Before we start, I found out that few people are quite confused with Conabus as the pictures on the box showing him with twin cannon on his back (from Ares's foot) and a gun, aside from the sword. However, there's only 3 of these in the packaging and we end up with a twin cannon and half-a-gun. which people speculate to be due to cost cutting.

I might be wrong here but the front part of the gun [picture above] actually comes with Phlogeus. I can't be sure why is there no mention of this in the instruction sheet though

First of all, I must admit, Conabus robot mode seems a bit too plain compared to Phlogeus. Although not G1-ish, the way the rhino's head being hidden inside of the body is a nice touch. The overall paint scheme is different from G1 Headstrong especially on the lower legs where it's red instead of black.

Transformation is really simple, just like Phlogues and Nemean. If you are familiar with those two, you'll find transforming Conabus fairly intuitive.

Side View

Back View
There's just a small kibble at the back below the waist line but it won't hinder Conabus's articulations.

Pic Credit : Seibertron.com

The head sculpt, despite being kind of boring, follows the shape of G1 Headstrong toy with a bit of modifications

Just like most TFC releases, Conabus have some sort of an alternate way of configuring to make him looks abit more like his G1 counterpart (you can see the same with most Hercules members)

The most significant change that TFC did was to the slide mechanism of the legs. Conabus has a piece of panel on each legs where the tabs are used to pegged the legs into place.

I love his aethetic, paired with his bulkiness, kind of match his alt mode as a rhino. However, I fairly disappointed with the design of his shoulders as they have slightly limited range of motion.

Conabus using Phlogeus's gun

One more thing that kind of bugs me is that I'm not sure how the twin cannons are supposed to be attached on his back.

Tried few ways to attached the twin cannons and decided maybe this is the best one...I think

Another Configuration
Scratch that, I prefer this way better

The cannons can also be separated and used as forearm cannons which to me, looks better. Articulation wise, Conabus comes with a swivel neck joint, hinge and swivel on the shoulders, double jointed elbows, waist swivel, universal ratcheting joint on the thighs, hinge on the knees and ankles tilt.

Aside from the firearms, Conabus also comes with a...scimitar..maybe? It is to be combined with the ones from the rest of Ares's team members to form the big sword.

Size Comparison

Despite being almost the same size in alt mode, Conabus is roughly a head shorter than MMC Fortis which is kind of expected.

When Phlogeus came out, I was kind of worried considering his paint job doesn't match Nemean's.  But now the paint scheme kinda feel balanced with the release of Conabus.

Project Ares, Assemble!

Combine Mode

Maybe it's just me but I find that Conabus release is very important as finally get to see how big he really is. But first...

On the box, the picture shows how Conabus should be configured in leg mode.

However, with the alt mode's front legs folded backward, the legs doesn't really attach to anything and doesn't help supporting the the weight to be carried.

But in the instruction, the combine mode is configure as above.

The alt mode front legs are pegged to the body which I think help strengthening the combine mode.

After half-a-year, I finally manage to get Ares standing (with the help of a friend who borrowed me his Conabus). It seems that I'm [half] wrong on the way Nemean is configured in combine mode. The way the thighs are configured does help Ares to be more stable but unlike using Uranos's legs, Conabus (and Aetheon) is wider and the upper legs still need to be bend outward a little bit.

The current swords already forming half the large sword. I still haven't made up my mind on whether the large sword is sufficient or not..

Ares is a tad bit taller than Uranos which is good. However, I feel like most fans would've wish he's even more taller than now. Just a reminder, size comparison between Uranos and Feral Rex (in extended mode)

*Image source : MMC R-04 Leo Dux Review
Comparing the two pictures above, Feral Rex (in extended mode) is taller than Uranos where the top of his head is at the same height of Uranos's antennas while the top of Ares's head is way higher than Uranos's antennas, which means Feral Rex is shorter than Ares.

However, is that enough? If not, I found out a way to make Ares towers both of them even more

The trick is to extend Conabus (and Aetheon) body just like the configuration in alt mode. The gap between the body and the legs of Conabus is a bit visible but I can live with that. The results?

With this configuration, Ares's height increases quite a fair amount which to me is good enough...for now. I'll make another assessment once Ares is complete. Another issue would be, can the legs withstand the weight of Ares's upper body once it is complete, in this configurations? We'll have to wait till Not-Divebomb is release

Age Of Extinction Autobot Slug (Hasbro Version) - Pictorial Review

$

Having a kid really change my schedule. This isn't a complaint but never in my whole life that I left new figures unopened for more than 2 days (aside from my Henkei Crystal Convoy, that baby is still MISB)

To continue, next is another familiar character, Deluxe Age of Extinction Dinobot Slug or to be exact, Slag. If I'm not mistaken, the name was changed during Fall of Cybertron.

Alt Mode

This time there's no in package view as I got a bit overexcited and open him up before I start taking pictures.

Back View
At the back of the card, there are pictures of Slug in both modes with other deluxe releases in the 1st wave which are Bumblebee, Crosshair and Scorn.

Slug's character bio

Slug comes with two swords that made out of soft plastic. Compared to Slug's striking purple and red color scheme, the swords are really plain.

Like Grimlock, Slug's weapons can be attached to the figure but for me, this time it doesn't really work so I'm going to leave them out.

Slug transform into a triceratops with a slightly modified design comprise of pointy and sharp edges parts, giving him a more fierce aesthetic.

Proportion wise, Slug is really well-designed from head to tail. Quality wise, it feels a bit hollow on the body and also some parts are made out of the same material as the sword, namely the tail and the horns.

The tail is one piece plastic without any joints on it aside from the hinge connecting to the body

Slug have a really detailed look, especially on the eyes and the red stripe really improve the aesthetic. The paint app is surprisingly good especially compared to Dark Of The Moon figures.

In alt mode, Slug has few point of articulations, namely the jaw, the head and a bit on the front and hind legs.

Robot Mode

Transformation is quite simple for Slug, just straight forwards. The first impression I had looking at Slug was the obvious medieval looks the robot mode have.

However, I do find the robot mode is a bit too crowded on the upper body especially around the shoulder guards.

Back View
The shoulder guards actually looks better from behind with the dino head visible rather than the insides if you look from the front.

I really like the head sculpt for Slug. Simple but effective, matching the overall theme of the figure. However, looking at how 'normal' the head sculpt is, I can only speculate that the Dinobots don't have the robot mode in Age Of Extinction movie. At best, maybe Grimlock the only one that transform.

Articulation wise, Slug has pretty decent range of movement. However, the shoulder guards despite making the design of the figure good, they hinder Slug's articulations a bit.

Slug comes with a ball jointed head (but limited range due to the shape of the head), swivel and hinge on the shoulders, hinge on the elbows, waist swivel, universal joint on the thighs and hinge on the knees.

I really like the combination that Hasbro brought through the Dinobots. Slug has a hybrid design of a 'sacred knight' mix with barbaric nature of his dino mode.

Age Of Extinction Scorn (Hasbro Version) - Pictorial Review

Next is the last Age of Extinction Dinobots from the first wave and quite frankly my favourite of the three. Scorn was never in any of Transformers universe, not as Scorn-a-dinobot nor as Scorn in general.

Alt Mode

Scorn transform into a red Spinosaurus as opposed to AOE artwork where he's depicted as being silver (with hint of brown in the official image) from head to tail. The spines are like the real Spinosaurus spines would be unlike the movie design where there are 2 spines on his back.

Scorn Official Image
Pic Credit : Web

The pack of the card shows Scorn in both mode and also the other deluxes in the wave.

Character's Bio

During the release of the 1st wave, Scorn was the one that I cared the lease, eyeing more on Voyager Grimlock and Deluxe Slug. However, it all changed when I opened him up.

The paint quality of Scorn is as good as that of Slug. He is mostly red and grey with few highlights of orange and dark grey.

The tail is made out of soft plastic with red/grey dual color tone.

The tail is on a hinge which allows it to swing side to side.

The dino head sculpt is beautifully done with quite a lot of detailing and the eyes is painted blue gren.

The spines are made out of grey soft plastic with red detailing. The orange detailing is nicely done highlighting the body.

Why is he my favourite? Aside from the detailing, he's a lot of fun to play with in Dino mode, as opposed to Grimlock and Slug which are kind of static.

In Dino mode, Scorn head can be turn side to side and also, up and down with the jaw on a hinge while the hands and legs are on ball joints

Robot Mode

Just like Slug, Scorn is based on a medievel soldier but this time, as a Lancer. The overall design is better as he doesn't look too crowded.

Kibble free

Like I said in Slug's review, with this kind of head sculpt, will they transform in Age Of Extinction? Do they even have a robot mode?

One of the complaint I heard before is the hand design as there a visible hole from where the fist folds into in Dino mode. To me, it's not really a big deal.

Aside from the lance (tail) on (as) his hand, Scorn comes with a sort sword which can be hidden underneath the it.

Scorn comes with a ball jointed head, double jointed shoulders, swivel above the elbows and hinge on the elbow, waist swivel, universal joint on the thighs and double jointed knees.

Built-wise, I think Scorn is pretty much the same as Slug. However, with his clean design (and perhap the striking color of red) Scorn is far more satisfying to me in terms of playability and overall feel. I had a chance to fiddle around with Strafe before but still, Scorn is my favourite Dinobot yet.

*Need to help my wife get Slash and Strafe next before Snarl and Slog comes in

Generations Deluxe Rattrap - Pictorial Review

$

One thing that I was worried about with the release of Age Of Extinction line : Generations line not reaching Malaysia's shore. It was the case back in 2011 with the last wave of Generations didn't hit the shelves and I got the same feeling this year when even after months it was released, the wave that consist of Deluxe Scoop still nowhere to be seen and the newest wave consisting of Deluxe Rattrap and Tankor might suffer the same fate. Luckily, new stock arrived yesterday with Deluxe Scoop, Armada Starscream, Skywarp, Minicon Assault Team, Tankor and Rattrap altogether in a carton.

Pic Credit : TFWiki
One of the main characters in Beast Wars series and the earliest crew of Maximals, Rattrap is perhaps the most annoying character the Maximals have to deal with, with the constant negativity, sarcasm and being dowright rude to almost everyone even his commanding officer. He's a fine soldier nonetheless, been at the frontline of countless battles between the Predacon and Maximal.

In Package

Rattrap comes in the same packaging as previous IDW Generations Deluxes.

Back View
At the back, there are pictures showing Rattrap in both mode as well as his tech spech.

Rattrap's Bio

At the botom of the box, there are pictures of Tankor and Crosscut in which both are supposed to be released together but Crosscut was pushed back into future wave.

Alt Mode

Rattrap is gorgeous! Hasbro really did well in designing him.

Transformation between mode is really fun as much more complicated than what I previously thought.

Back View

The detailing of Rattrap is unbelievable. The head sculpt is well done with textures all over his body from head to tail.

The jaw can be open showing his teeth which are also colored.

The color tone, paired with the texturize surface on his back is a nice touch. However I do have a problem in aligning the panels on the back but that's just me.

The tail is made out of a rubber with wire running through it where you can bend it no matter how you want it and it'll stay that way.

The tail are on a hinge that allows it to move upward almost 90o. The feet are also made out of rubber, almost the same as the tail.

Rattrap's gun can be stored under his body

There's a piece of plastic inside his head that can be pulled back to cover the gap between his head and his body when the head is push downward. This is really clever indeed.

There's not much articulations going on in alt mode but his head can be pushed downward, the front legs and feet are on swivel joints while the hind legs are on swivel joints and hinges on the feet, allowing him to stand up in alt mode just like he did most of the time in the show.

Size comparison with Neo-Beast Wars figures

Rattrap does seems to be a bit big compared to the others but in the show, he was never a small rat to begin with. Plus, most of the time, he'll be in robot mode, that's for sure.

How many time I have to tell you, bud? No means NO!

I said NO, you numbnut!!
Robot Mode

Rattrap looks like he came out of the CGI model! Hasbro really did a good job with him (and also the other Beast Wars characters in the new Generations line)

The head sculpt is nicely done with all the detailing and also black lines highlighting it.

My complaint would be the ears are a bit too big and disturbing the view.

Side View

The kibbles are pretty much expected, just like Generations Rhinox.

I really like how clever his transformation is especially on the legs and feet. Well Done!!

Rattrap has a wide range of movement, making him really great to play with. The transformation of the legs kind of limit the feet's articulation a bit but it's worth it. However, the way his back kibbles not closely secured to his body makes him feel a bit 'hollow' with some of the parts moving around when trying to pose him.

Also I'm a bit worried about the shoulders connector as they are made out of rubbery plastics, will they last long? Not to mention the pieces move as you try to move the shoulders and hands.

Other than that though, he's a great figure. Rattrap comes with a swivel jointed head, swivel joints and hinges on each shoulder, hinges on his elbows (a bit limited, less than 90o range of movement to the front), ball jointed thighs, swivels below them and hinges on the knees. There are no wrists and waist swivels nor ankles tilt.

He's quite stable but the ball joints on the thigh are a bit loose.

Small Maximal logo on his right hand

There's a compartment in his left forearm where a translucent 'hot-box' is stored.

The 'hot-box' is a device that Rattrap used to fool Tarantulas in the episode "The Web".

Size comparison

If compared to the TV Show, Rattrap roughly at the right scale with Rhinox and Cheetor. Dinobot is the one that is a bit too small.

The Maximals

Hope they'll continue releasing Beast Wars figures with new design, at least the on screen characters.

Generations Deluxe Tankor - Pictorial Review

$
0
0
One would thought that Beast Wars was the most unorthodox and controversial Transformers franchise when it was aired in the 90's. But then 1999 came in and we have Beast Machines (BM), a 26-episodes sequel to Beast Wars.

Season 1 of BM focused on the Maximals (Optiumus Primal, Rattrap, Cheetor and Blackarachnia) being back on Cybertron...but not the Cybertron as they know it. All that's left is a deserted Cybertron with streets patrolled by mindless Vehicon Drones serving Megatron and at the same time, the Maximals are infected with a deadly virus that'll kill them. The problem was solved with the help of a supercomputer, the Oracle which reformats them into technorganic bodies.

On the other hand, we have Drones serving Megatron evil plan, specifically Tank Drones, lead by the tank general, Tankor. Tankor along with the other Vehicon Generals, leads Megatron mindless army in keeping the planet under control and to fight against the Maximals.

Pic Credit : TFWiki
Tankor and the other generals are the only ones granted sparks, as opposed to normal drones. Tankor fought again and again with the Maximals, holding onto Megatron's promise of "fabulous prize to be won!" for getting them into captivity. And the Maximals anything they can to defend themselves from Tankor brutal attacks. However, much to their dismay, Tankor turns out to be their beloved comrade that fought side-by-side with them during the Beast Wars, Rhinox

Pic Credit : TFWiki
Rhinox was one of the unlucky ones during Maximals' returned to Cybertron. Unlike the Transmetals that were able to stay mobile for a short period, Rhinox was held captive by Megatron and had his spark forcibly removed. The spark was later used to power Tankor, the tank general with hope that the Maximals will be less willing to fight him. But Megatron failed to foresee that Tankor end up being only slightly more intelligent than the rest of the Tank Drones.

Pic Credit : TFWiki
Despite Optimus Primal attempt to reach Rhinox's spark, he was too late as the spark was already tainted by his time inside Tankor, rejecting the Maximals and supporting Megatron's idea of technologically-pure Cybertron....but only the idea, not Megatron himself. This resulted in a fail coup d-etat and Tankor was killed. Rhinox expressed his regret over his actions when Optimus Primal met him (his Spark) one last time within the Allspark.

The widely-inaccurate BM Tankor

As part of the Thrilling 30, Tankor is the first Beast Machines characters to receive a new mold, under the Generations line.

Tankor comes with a copy of "No Exit : Dark Cybertron Chapter 6" however there are complaints of the pages being out of order (mine included)

Tankor's Character Bio

Alt Mode

This Tankor is the best interpretation of the character out there. I still don't know why the original BM Tankor was designed so inaccurate to his CGI in the series.

From the side, there's a bit too much of Tankor's body parts visible, wished it was done differently.

Tankor has a missile attached to the underside of his alt mode using C-clip. However, the plastic is sturdier than most C-Clip weapons used by most Generations figure.

The head which is on top of his alt mode is clearly visible (based on his character design in the series) and can be turned around.

The alt mode is roughly the same size as most previous Generations releases but it's a bit too 'thin'

Robot Mode

This is Tankor! Haven't watch the series for quite sometime and I was surprised to see how Generations Tankor resembles the character design. As you can see, the lower legs configuration is as shown at the back of the card but they were facing the other way when he's in packaging (which I think is the correct way)

Despite being a show-accurate figure, Tankor kind of disappoint me as he is small!!! I know for a fact he's going to be a Deluxe Class figure but in hand...he's hard to bear. Transformation wise is simple which is acceptable but the hollowness of him really make me miss pre-2012 Generations figures.

Back View

The head sulpt is nicely done albeit with just a small amount painting involve.

On the plus side, Tankor is really fun to play with due to his unexpected range of movement.

Tankor comes with swivel on the neck, swivel and hinge on the shoulders with the shoulder pads on a hinge, swivel joint above the elbows, double jointed elbows, hinges on the claw, universal joint on the thighs and a wide range hinge on his knees.

The gears can be rotate but without any gimmick aside from character design's accuracy. The detailings on the chest are nicely done, nice work.

My biggest disappointment again...the size. As a stand alone character, I don't actually mind. But considering he's, in a way, a reincarnation of Rhinox, I would've expect him to be AT LEAST the same size if not bigger (based on his size in the series). Even worst when he's not something that Hasbro didn't expect to be doing, he came in the same line as Rhinox and not even a year apart.

I'm not the drone, I'm the DRONE GENERAL!!!!

Generations Autobot Scoop - Pictorial Review

$

This is one review that I've been dreading to do for reasons that I'll explain later. Once in a while, Hasbro choose to release few obscure characters that are sometimes even fans are unfamiliar with. They did that back in 2011 for example, with the release of Generations Darkmount, Sky Shadow and Thunderwing.

For 2014, Hasbro released Generations Autobot Scoop, a character that is new even for me.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Scoop is an Autobot Targetmaster, the 4th Autobot Targetmasters to be released under CHURG after United Stepper, Artfire and Henkei Strafe. Known as one of the best field infantries, Scoop uses both cool-headed logic and battle-hardened tactics to fight and crush his enemies on the battlefield. I have no idea in which media did Scoop first appeared but he's in Marvel continuity, Generation 2 and also the more recent IDW Generation 1, among others.

Just like the other IDW Generations releases, [Autobot] Scoop comes with a Hasbro Exclusive Cover IDW Generation 1 comic book, specifically issue #23 "Black Metal : Dark Cybertron Chapter 2".

Scoop's Character Bio

Alt Mode

Scoop transform into a payloader that resembles his G1 version except for the bucket which is in orange as opposed to yellow color.

Other than that, Generations Scoop retained a lot of the characteristic of the G1 version which to me, is a nice homage.

The rims however are not painted, not even with just silver lining like the G1 version.

One of my complaints is that the cockpit is poorly painted and given that it's painted translucent plastic, it will get worse over time.

Also just like G1 Scoop, the loader arm is on hinges allowing loading process to be simulated.

There's a huge gap between the cockpit and the loader which bothers me a bit. There are pegs on the inside to lock the robot's shoulders and chest piece but mine can't lock securely.

Scoop is roughly the same size as Classics Bumblebee in alt mode but Scoop feels lighter and hollow somehow.

Targetmasters

Scoop, just like United Artifre, comes with 2 Targetmasters (just like G1 Scoop, unlike G1 Artfire which only comes with 1 Targetmaster), which are Holepunch (right, blue) and Caliburst (known as Tracer in G1, left, yellow).

Holepunch and Caliburst has the same engineering but different in design.

Both are a head smaller than Universe Cyclonus's Targetmaster, Nightstick.

Despite being smaller in robot mode, both are roughly the same length as Nightstick in gun mode. However, transformation for Nightstick is waaaay better.

Holepunch and Caliburst can combine into a larger weapon like the G1 version but with slightly different configuration.

Robot Mode

I've expected Scoop's transformation to be simple given the way the design is but Hasbro put a twist in it and give Scoop a slightly better transformation sequence on the upper body. Kudos.

HOWEVER, I'm really disappointed with the way the plastic feels. Once I had a low-end Knockoff of Energon Sledge and it feels the SAME! The hollow parts are making it worst.

The bucket doesn't secure tightly to his back and with its weight, tend to fall down every once in awhile.

The head sculpt is nicely done and the light piping is beautiful. Overall paint apps is okay considering there's not much paint apps to begin with.

Scoop's articulations are not bad though. The head is on a ball joint, the shoulders are on ball joints and hinges, hinges on the elbows, waist swivel, ball joints and swivels on the thighs and double jointed knees. But there are no wrist swivels and ankle tilts.

With Holepunch and Caliburst

Size wise, Scoop is roughly as tall as Classics Bumblebee which is actually a small deluxe to begin with.

Hate seeing how small the recent releases are...

Before anyone says anything, I'm not like some people that condemn official releases any chance they have. For me, I know what to expect from Hasbro, considering their target audience and the price.

In this wave, I got 5 out of 8 figures in that carton (6 unique figures) and I can't imagine how much fun I'll have opening them up. But after Rattrap...it went downhill. Opened up Tankor, Scoop (which I really really looked forward to), then Armada Starscream and the Minicon Assault Team... I was baffled. Classics started back in 2006 which means it's not even 10 years yet but the quality has drop to an alarming level.

Don't get me wrong, CHURGs are the only line I collect (except for 3rd party releases that compliment the line) and I hunted each and every variants of their molds ever released. Despite having to buy the same thing over and over again,  I love this line. But the way things are right now, I'm worried about the direction they going for.

Using 'kids' as an excuse for over-simplifying is unacceptable considering this line is supposed to be for Collectors (as opposed to Movie lines, etc). The cost cutting is too obvious. The plastics are hollow and thin. The design is simpler compared to Universe 2.0 and 2010/2011 Generation figures. No new deluxe can match the size of the old ones, with most only as tall as Classics Bumblebee. Seriously Hasbro...do something.

Transformers Age Of Extinction - Just some thoughts

Watched the premier of Transformers Age of Extinction with fellow TransMYian on June 25th and wasn't disappointed to be honest. But to make it clear, I'm not a Bayformers fanboy not am I a hardcore Geewuner. Been enjoying all thing Transformers from all the series, the comic books (IDW, Marvel, Dreamwave) and few other medias.

Pic Credit: Web

Never intended to write anything about it but stumble upon a review that shockingly gave AoE some 'harsh' critiques which to me only partially true and the best part, putting something like

"'I'm also quite sure the old-time fans would be disappointed with bla bla bla "
This won't be a proper review, just few points I like to let out. Let us begin but first, MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!

Negative
1 - The movie is quite too long for my taste, nearing 3 hours. Felt that some parts can either be excluded or compacted

2 - Galvatron is one of favourite character in Transformers universe, but Bay should've at least waited a bit as Megatron has been dead and brought back to life for quite few times already. TF5 maybe?

3 - Hate the new Decepticons way of transforming

Positive
1 - Human characters aren't as annoying as the previous 3. Mark Wahlberg played his character well. AoE changed the movie franchise from spastic comedy party into having more mature atmosphere.

2 - More robot screen time!

3 - Better storyline than the previous 3 and it seems Bay did some homework this time. In case people are wondering, here are some homages that could be found in the movie

  • Flat-cab truck that Optimus Prime transform into in the beginning of the movie is a homage to Generation 1 Optimus Prime
  • Lockdown role as a bounty hunter, just like when he debuted in Transformers universe during Animated.
  • The resurrection of Megatron is based on the storyline of TF Animated where he trick Dr Sumdac into building his new body.
  • Having the Dinobots fossilized reminded me of IDW Spotlight : Shockwave. Hope there'll be detail explanation of why the Dinobots were there in the first place.
  • The alliance with Dinobots was nicely done. Personally, better than it was in G1 and Animated
  • The human-created Transformers reminded me of the fate of Sunstreaker in IDW Devastation series.
  • The 'creator' that was mentioned by Lockdown might end up end up with 2 possibilities. (1), the Quintesson or better yet, (2) Unicron [and be default, hopefully, Primus]
  • The first time in the franchise that the story heading somewhere, a bigger arc. Rodimus and the cast of 86 maybe?

Transformers Movie franchise was never 'phenomenal' from the start. There are ok parts and some bad parts. However, found out that AoE currently being targeted with thoughtless reviews which is kind of weird. However, as the fan of Transformers Franchise (not just someone who suddenly knows everything about Transformers after watching the 4 live action movies ie "his childhood"), I find that AoE is better than what I expected.

I get that people say not all reviewers a fan of a certain franchise etc. True, there's a lot of reviewers know Transformers from the movies only, no more. However, I would've been better if they some homework just to have a basic idea. Why? Because they are reviewer. Is it right if I reviewed a Generations figure then complaint there is no die-cast parts? If you decide to do a review of anything, there must be at least some knowledge of it.

Let say I watch a love story which ends with both the main characters died, no happy ending. Is it right if I say it sucks and a stupid movie when it's an adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet"?

Toyworld TW-H03 Swamper - Pictorial Review

It's been quite sometime since I reviewed anything by Toyworld. The last was TW-03 BII in January. Let us move on to their new offering, TW-H03 Swamper (Not-Skullcruncher), the first Decepticon Headmaster from Toyworld.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

In The Headmasters cartoon series, Skullcruncher was among the group small Cybertronians who flew out to escape the never ending war, under the command on Fortress [Maximus].Crashing on Planet Master, the crew fight for survival on the planet which resulted them building a larger, lifeless Transformer bodies called Transtectors.

After rigorous physical and mental training, the crew manage to master this new technology and became the Headmasters. However, Skullcruncher and several others rebelled against Fortress and sided with the traitor, Scorponok.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

In Package

Swamper comes in a packaging similar to Hardbone and Brainwave with the colors quite similar to TW-H01 Hardbone.

Swamper's artwork on the front has a Japanese feel to it, giving the vibe of G1 Headmasters series rather than G1 US.

The back of the box showing Swamper Alt Mode and 2 Robot Modes. Swamper comes with a Biocard and an instruction manual.

Alt Mode

TW-H03 Swamper, crocodile mode. Now, the first 2 things that I notice are the green and pink on him is lighter than G1 Skullcruncher and the crocodile head is kind of weird

Swamper's alt mode is nicely done where the robot mode is perfectly concealed.

Even the underside of the alt mode is clean with no robot parts visible.

The tail follows G1 Skullcruncher where half of it made up his legs while the other half splits apart forming his weapons or resides at the side of the legs.

All of Swamper's accessories are part of his body with his 2 guns attach to the side of his hind legs.

The front legs attach to the body with double hinges giving extra range of movement. The knees are on small ratchet joints while the feet on ball joints.

The hind legs however are connected to the body with swivel joints. The knees are also on swivel joints unlike the front legs and the feet on ball joints.

The crocodile head is on a swivel and hinge allowing 360o rotation to the side as well as upward and downward movement.

He is huge, I have to say. Probably one of the biggest robot with non-vehicular alt mode I ever owned.

Headmaster's compartment

The Headmaster

Just like Hardbone and and Brainwave, Swamper comes with his own Headmaster unit, Not-Grax.

The detailing on Not-Grax is kind of disappointing especially on the head.

Not-Grax with Not-Duros and Not-Arcana

The good thing is that Toyworld improve the quality of Swamper's Headmaster unit compared to Not-Duros and Not-Arcana. The joints are tighter where it is easier to pose him and he comes with elbows unlike the previous two.

Stability Test

Robot Mode

Swamper is way better than Hardbone and Brainwave, I must say. Toyworld seems to never stop improving their offering which is good, unlike some 3rd party companies.

Side View
There's a lot more transformation involve with Swamper especially on the legs. Kind of refreshing as Toyworld usually use simple, G1-ish transformation sequence.

The alt mode's front legs hang at the back of the shoulders which is kind of a turn off. With all the transformation going on, Toyworld could have at least do better on the kibbles.

The head sculpt kind of based on G1 Skullcruncher which is a nice touch. However, I wish he had a normal face expression rather than the smirk.

Swamper is made out of sturdier plastic than Toyworld previous releases. Also, the joints are really tight making him fun and easy to pose.

Even better, he's really stable pretty much due to the weight of his legs. However the thigh and knee joints are able to withstand it.

Easy-peasy

Swamper comes with 2 guns that look pretty much like the one from G1 Skullcruncher (but he only has one)

Swamper comes with swivel-jointed head, swivel and hinge on the shoulders, ratchet joint on the elbows and swivel on the wrist. He also comes with a waist swivel, swivel and hinge on the thighs, ratchet and swivel on the knees and lastly, ankle tilts. Personally, Swamper comes with all the articulations he needed.

Aside from the guns, Swamper comes with 2 short swords from the tip of the tail that splits into two parts, almost like G1 Skullcruncher.

The remaining part of the split tail can also form 2 short sword, giving him more melee weapons.

These 4 swords can be combined into 2 longer swords like above.

The 2 longer swords can be used to form some sort of a bow for Swamper.

Even better, the 2 guns can also be attached to the bow making it a bad**s weapon.

Shown in the teaser by Toyworld before, the alt mode's front legs can act as extra limbs for Swamper. They also incorporate fist-like parts underneath the feet.

For those who prefer a more G1 look, the body can be turned around to use the back part as the front part. However, the left and right fists need to be switched around.

Other than that, the front legs of the alt mode needs to be detached and reattached to the side of the crocodile head.

With Brainwave and Hardbone

Fans Toys FT-04 Scoria - Pictorial Review

This review is sponsored by X2OToys

It seems that almost every year, there are mutual agreements between Hasbro/Takara and 3rd Party companies in terms of what to present the fans with. Through Age of Extinction, Bay manages to bring the Dinobots to the mainstream viewers and fans.

At the same time, a lot of unofficial releases centered in the Dinobots, Planet-X Not-FOC Dinobots for instance. The latest are a new teaser of Not-Dinobots by Fansproject. However, before that, Fan Toys and Gigapower (not to mention Bullsfire) offered the fans Masterpiece rendition of the Dinobots to accompany official Masterpiece Grimlock. And the first to see the light of day is Fan Toys FT-04 Scoria, Not-Slag.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

One of the nastiest Dinobots out of the 5, Slag can easily be the source of stereotype surrounding the team, labeling them as disturbingly violent, mean-spirited and just a push away to become a Decepticon. Pure killing machine, Slag will engage in any battle in a blink of an eye, without caring what the outcome would be.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

In Package

The box is huge! Even bigger than MMC Hexatron. First thing I notice is that there's significant improvement from FT Quakewave's box to FT Scoria's. The box is black just like official Takara Masterpiece boxes with an artwork of Scoria at the front.

The back of the box shows Scoria in both modes and the accessories he comes with.

Scoria's Bio

There's a window on the front side of the box that shows Scoria in packaging.

Scoria's Tech Spec

Instruction Booklet

Scoria comes with a sword (chrome-red handle) and a gun (chrome-silver), both with LED inside.

Also an alternate head (open mouth) and 2 alternate red mouth pieces homage cartoon version of G1 Slag.

Scoria also comes with an add on for Masterpiece Grimlock, serving as cannons for his alt mode and feet/platform for robot mode.

Robot Mode

Before I proceed with Scoria, let see how Grimlock's add on works.

The cannons can be attached to Grimlock by sliding a small part on his back through a groove under the cannons.

Side View

The cannon color is slightly different from the color of Grimlock's body. Even so, in normal lighting, it isn't that obvious.

Now, Scoria!

Just like G1 Slag, Scoria transforms into a triceratops and when I say "Just like G1 Slag", I really meant LIKE G1 Slag. Scoria is what Slag would be if Transformers franchise starts in the present time. But the most impressive thing upon taking him out of the packaging was the sheer weight itself. Scoria is roughly 2-2.5 times heavier than Masterpiece Grimlock.

Side View
My first [small, minor] complaint would be the shape of his body. From the side, Scoria looks like a potato with head and tail. However, I'm not really familiar with Dinosours in general nor I remember exactly what G1 Slag looks like, so this might not even be a valid complaint to begin with.

The detailing on the alt mode is awesome! Really impress to see how much effort FT puts into Scoria. The head is gold-chromed while the neck frill and the horns are silver-chromed.

Scoria have a clean paint application throughout his body with great detailing. However, the chrome parts are dust and fingerprint magnet as you can see above.

The mouth can be open revealing what looks like a blaster/small cannon inside it.

Articulation wise, Scoria head is on a swivel joint with jaw on hinges. The shoulder of the front legs are on swivel and ratchet joints. There's a swivel joint below each shoulders and the elbows are on ratcheting hinges. The feet can be pushed downward but just a bit.

The hind legs are on swivel joints and hinges while the middle segment of the tail is on a hinge

Size Comparison

As I said before I'm not really familiar with Dinosaurs but did some research and I think Scoria is basically at the right scale with Grimlock in alt mode.

It surprises me to see how great Scoria looks side by side with Grimlock. Despite being a 3rd Party release, the design was well done and blend in well with Grimlock.

Robot Mode

First of all, transforming Scoria is satisfying! The design is ingenious while having an 'official' feel it. The transformation of the lower half is roughly the same as Grimlock.

Very well done robot mode. Scoria have all the right feels with aesthetic fitting the Masterpiece line and even better, a Masterpiece Dinobot.

In the official configuration, the neck frill seats at the back giving him a cleaner look, following G1 Slag design.

Back View

However for me, I prefer to have the neck frill sits behind the robot head so that the upper part of the body doesn't look too empty.

Side View
Scoria is kibble free where the tail is folded inward and stored at the back of his body.

Back View
However, without the neck frill, Scoria's back is a bit exposed and you can see the tail that is folded inside.

Now, let's look at the detailing

Scoria comes with a substantial amount of diecast parts on his lower leg which give him the weight that reminded me of the old Masterpiece figures.

Also, the left and right side of the body are also diecast making him feels really solid. However the chrome part on the chest kind of bothers me as it really is a fingerprint magnet.

Metallic-blue eyes

The design of the hands kind of resembles Masterpiece Grimlock and G1 Slag design which is a nice touch. The Triceratops' toes/feet are diecast.

The detailing on the wings are nicely done and the quality control is great.

There are 2 panels on his chest with the outer one covering some sort of a circuit (black piece) that can be open to store his head in alt mode.

Equipped with a sword and blaster

Due to the shape of the sword (and the hand), the fist needs to be tilted backwards a little in order for Scoria to hold the sword. The fist comes with a ball jointed thumb and individual joints for the other 4 fingers.

Scoria comes with a ball-jointed head (limited range of movement due to the shape of the head), swivel and ratchet joints on the shoulders, swivels above the elbows and wrists and hinge on the elbows.

There are complaints that Scoria's left shoulder is a bit loose and unable to support the weight of the diecast parts and his hand-held weapons. I found out that it is due to his swivel joints (that can be easily fixed) rather than the ratchet joints.

Scoria comes with a waist swivel, double-jointed thighs, hinge and swivel joints on the knees and a small degree of ankle tilt. Due to the transformation and the weight of the lower legs, Scoria's thigh can sometime collapse when you try to pose his legs. FT should have given him a stronger joints there in order for him to be able to support all the diecast parts.

Size Comparison

Compared to Grimlock, Scoria is significantly taller and bulkier making Grimlock looks underwhelming

So, let see how the add on can remedy this

With the add on, Grimlock is now roughly the same height as Scoria. However, I still think that FT should've made him in scale with Grimlock as opposed to giving Grimlock add on parts just to be taller.

If you look closely, you can see that even with the add on parts, Scoria is still taller than Grimlock. Aesthetic wise, it's hard to believe that Scoria is not an official Masterpiece figure.

Side View

2 Down, 3 To Go

Like I've mentioned before, I'm not a Masterpiece collector. However, I must say, I'm tempted to get Scoria (and Grimlock) as the design really-really impressed me. Fans Toys goes a long way since the release of Quakewave. Even though we have yet to see the finished product of other 3rd Party Dinobots, I feel like [IF I COLLECT THEM] I won't have any trouble choosing Fans Toys version of Dinobots. Not to mention that they plan to release their own version of Grimlock, maybe the one that's in scale with Scoria

TFC Aethon [Project Ares] - Pictorial Review

$

0
Now, for something that's I've been waiting for. The 4th component of Ares, Aethon (Not-Tantrm)! Can't believe that Ares is almost complete, with Not-Divebomb coming in August/September.

Short backstory of Tantrum can be found at MMC Bovis Pictorial Review.

In Package

First and foremost, we're gone through about Project Ares's packaging etc so this won't be a long review.

I strongly hope TFC will improved the quality of their packaging on the future releases. My box wasn't even glued properly.

I really like the way Aethon picture was taken here.

Aethon comes with a tech-spec, an instruction sheet and a poster.

Alt Mode

Aethon is actually a heavy retool of TFC Conabus (Not-Headstrong) so you can check it out here.

I guess Aethon is my favourite out of the 4 for now. The shade of orange and red used really make the figure pops.

Porpotion-wise, Aethon's alt mode can be considered plausible enough, much better than Conabus.

Back View

What really caught my attention was the detailing on the bull's head especially the nose ring and the [painted] clear plastics (the horns)

Jaw can be opened, like Conabus

Aethon's articulations are more on his front legs, with the shoulders are on a hinge and swivel, ratchet joint on the elbows, ball-jointed feet and a hinge above it, overall better articulation than Conabus.

The head can rotate around on a swivel but the hinge only allows for downward movement.

What's interesting is that Aethon has a neck cover just like Generations Rattrap. Also, just like MMC Bovis, Aethon has a slightly different transformation compared to Conabus where the robot mode's chest facing upwards rather than downwards (Conabus)

Weaponize Mode

Comparison

If you look closely, Conabus and Aethon has a lot of differences in terms of their design despite having the same core engineering.

Seriously...I need their Not-Divebomb...quick!

Robot Mode

While Conabus is mostly red and yellow, Aethon is almost 85% orange color while few parts are black and red.

Personally, I prefer Aethon's head sculpt more than Conabus. The detailing and the expression are simply better.

I did the same for TFC previous releases when they used [almost] the same mold for multiple characters (TFC Uranos members).

Despite being 'the same', Aethon and Conabus actually are 2 different figures altogether. When you look closely, there's almost no parts from Conabus being recycled for Aethon.

Just like Conabus, Aethon can be configure to look like g1 Tantrum with the bull's head on top.

Who wears it better?

Aethon comes with the 4th part of Ares's sword, a smaller sword that's the same with Conabus's sword.

Just like Conabus, the shoulders have quite limited range of movement compared to previous Ares's members.

The combiner's foot can either be used as a handheld blaster or attached to the back as a cannon.

Awesome group shots!

Combined Mode

Forming Ares's left leg, Aethon shares the same transformation with Conabus. However, the foot are sturdier and tighter than the one that came in with Conabus.

The small gun that forms the heel doesn't come together with Aethon but instead with Not-Divebomb.

The neck cover helps to hide the robot mode head better.

Combine!!

Marvelous! I'm really glad that I chosed Ares as my Predaking. Don't get me wrong, Feral Rex is great but Ares suites my taste better. At first I thought their colors would be too flashy but combining these 4 figures, everything kind of looks okay.

I've done the comparison before and yes, in normal configuration, TFC Uranos and Ares have the same height.

However you can extend Ares's legs to make him a few milimeters taller than Uranos, making him the tallest combiners yet (not sure if compared to Warbotron series)

From what I heard, Not-Divebomb will be around end of August or early September so until then, I need to distract myself. Thank God Warning Line will be arriving in 1-2 weeks.

Just one more!!!
